Jidé 1600S
Biarritz Sports and Classic Cars (BSCC) is proud to present this Jidé 1600S.
A true French artisanal manufacturer, Jidé, founded by Jacques Durand, produced only 130 cars between 1969 and 1974.
The earliest models were based on R8 Gordini mechanicals, but the lineup evolved into the 1600S, powered by the engine from the R12 Gordini.
After selling Jidé, Mr. Durand went on to create Scora, another sports car brand—but that’s another story.
This is the third Jidé we’ve had the privilege to offer for sale.
This particular example is finished in a yellow-orange shade and features rare GT wheels, adding to its unique appeal.
Its engine, borrowed from the R12 Gordini and tuned to produce nearly 150 horsepower, delivers an exhilarating sound that’s guaranteed to turn heads.
The gearbox, fitted with a 9x34 final drive, is highly responsive. Its linkage has been fine-tuned to make gear shifts smoother and quicker.
The engine has been bored out to 1688cc, and features a Renault Sport camshaft, Weber 45 carburetors, and a Jidé Gordini valve cover.
Braking is handled by a combination of Autobianchi Primula rear brakes and Renault 16 front brakes.
Inside, a half roll cage has been added, and the driver and passenger seats have been lowered to improve accessibility and driving position.
From the very first turn of the wheels, the Jidé impresses with its flawless handling. Hugging the road, it inspires confidence thanks to powerful braking and delivers pure, thrilling sensations that transport you straight back to the spirit of the 1970s.
