Jide 1600S
Biarritz Sports and Classic Cars (BSCC) is pleased to present this Jide 1600S.
A traditional French manufacturer, the Jidé company, headed by Jacques Durand, produced only 130 cars between 1969 and 1974.
Initially, these cars were based on the R8 Gordini engine, and later evolved into the 1600S, which was powered by the R12 Gordini engine.
After Jidé was sold, Mr Durand set up the Scora company, which produced other sports cars, but that's another story....
This Jidé was fully restored between 2019 and 2022. It has been prepared in the objective of Group 5 homologation, as it was at the time.
The car does not currently have a PTH, but this can of course be achieved by the Aquitaine-based specialist who took care of the restoration.
The light blue 'Hafa' livery was chosen as a tribute to Jean Ragnotti's 1972 car.
Behind the wheel, the car surprises with its faultless roadholding. Well seated on the ground, the brakes are reassuring. The R12 Gordini's 150bhp engine sings in the driver's ears. The 365 Monte-Carlo-style 'short' gearbox is highly responsive and provides a great deal of thrills.
Only tall people will be able to get out and survive inside this small cabin.
This rare and exotic Jidé is part of the French motoring heritage of the early 70s and is eligible for the Tour Auto, the Rallye de Monte-Carlo Historique and the Tour de Corse Historique, among others.
A rarity on the market, it's the second one we're lucky enough to be able to sell.
